Background
The San Fernando Valley Alumnae Chapter is located in the northern part of Los Angeles County, California,
in what is commonly referred to as “The Valley”. As an alumnae chapter,
we have had a presence in the San Fernando Valley for over 50 years.
Throughout
this time, we have been actively engaged in philanthropic efforts, such as the annual Sleighbell Luncheon, which generously
contributes funds to the Oncology Department of the Children’s Hospital
of Los Angeles. We
have worked with numerous collegiate chapters, including California State University, Northridge, University
of Southern California and University of
California, Los Angeles. Members have held various positions with the Southern California
Alumnae Council (SCAC), local Panhellenic Board, and Sleighbell Committee, in addition to countless advisory positions to
the local collegiate chapters.

Members
We are a very diverse chapter in age,
experience and collegiate chapter origin. While we have many members who attended
California State University, Northridge where they were initiated, we also have members from many other states, including
Texas, Minnesota, Indiana, Colorado, Arizona and Nebraska. We have members who are recent graduates, newlyweds, mothers
and even grandmothers. Our members are proud of their lifetime commitment to membership and have continuously given
back through faithful service.
We
are very excited to welcome any new member, whether you are new to the area or new to an alumnae experience.

Meetings
We typically convene for a chapter meeting once every 4 months on a Saturday or Sunday, to conduct general business. However, we have an array of events throughout the year, ranging from monthly luncheon
get-togethers, social hours and one-day excursions. Other specialty events we
have held in recent years include a Wine Tasting & Fondue Party, Formal Tea, Cooking Demonstration, and Bunko Party.
The calendar is typically broken into two halves - the Fall & Winter, and the Spring & Summer. The chapter does
observe a summer break, allowing for members to take time for family vacations and such.
Chapter members pay a one-time membership fee, which covers their national dues, local chapter dues and newsletters. However involvement in some specialty events may require an occasional charge depending
on the event, or a contribution such as food with potluck-style events.
